The main features of the Cummins QSK60 Generator include a permanent magnet generator (PMG), which makes motor starting a better, smoother process. It also has a fault clearing short circuit capability. The engine is a heavy-duty 4 cycle diesel engine that responds quickly to load changes and produces low levels of emission. The cooling system of the unit is impressive, designed for rated ambient temperatures.

The Cummins QSK60 Generator is also notable for its PowerCommand control system, a trademarked control system developed by Cummins to be user-friendly and to provide tremendous amounts of information about power usage. The Cummins QSK60 Generator has the 3201 Control system, a microprocessor-based electronic system great for a number of applications, and able to be configured for any frequency, voltage, and power connection. The system has an alarm and status message display, a battery monitoring system, AmpSentry protection, and 3-phase sensing digital voltage regulation.

The Cummins QSK60 generator offers a number of options, such as a sound attenuating enclosure, critical or residential silencer, and an alternator heater.
